Frugal Me Meets Creative Me: The Beginning Of A ________ Relationship

Frugal Me:
I might have commented once or twice (or more but whose counting?) that I tend to be frugal.  Please do not confuse being frugal with being cheap, as I have mentioned before there is a huge difference between the two, and I am frugal.

Now I'm sure we can all agree that there are some things a person just doesn't shouldn't buy used.  Well some do, I've seen it happen, but this person doesn't.  A prime example of things that shouldn't be bought used would be underclothes (not even vintage).  I do believe buying used underroos will definitely downgrade ones shopping status from frugal to cheap, quickly!

There are also some things that must be purchased name brand, generic just simply will not do.  In my house some of those things include toilet paper/ facial tissue, Miracle Whip, make up, Velveeta, and wine.  However, for those things that must be purchased name brand I strongly recommend coupons.  They really do make a difference.  Coupon clipping, another telling sign of a frugal person.

For everything else, I love to shop for a deal at flea markets, yard sales, resale shops, auctions, thrift stores, church bazaars, clearance racks.....well you get the idea.

Creative Me:
Alright, the truth is there is no Creative Me, she simply doesn't exist.  Creative people are artistic and imaginative.  I have no artistic ability to speak of, and I have too much practical in me to be imaginative.  There are some people that can look at a simple bread bag tab and see an ingenious way to label otherwise messy cords, I look at a simple bread bag tab and see trash.  What I do have, however, is a Pinterest account and an exceptional ability to follow directions.  Yes, I have overcome my fear of Pinterest and it now ranks right up there with my addiction for my iPhone (which, by the way, has an app for Pinterest).

This is probably the best I've ever done at being creative, and honestly I wasn't trying so much to be creative as I was trying to not spend any additional money on flower pots.

Imagine my excitement when I stumbled across this inexpensive and creative way to Create Your Own Cake Stand!  This little pin thrills me on so many different levels!!  Not only is it inexpensive, but it will also require me to attend auctions or visit thrift stores in order to obtain my necessary supplies.  It's relatively simple to do, and therefore should not send my nonexistent creative self into orbit.  And, since I'm hosting a baby shower for my sweet niece J next month, this will allow me to create serving dishes in the exact colors I need for the event.

So tomorrow night I'm off to an auction with my fellow deal seeking, frugal is fun, friend M to dig through someone else's junk in search of my newest treasure; or at least the supplies to create my newest treasure.

But don't worry!  In the event that Frugal Me fails to secure the supplies necessary for this project or Creative Me is exposed for the fraud she really is and fails to execute the project correctly, Practical Me is standing by with the mandatory Plan B....and cookies.  Because both Frugal Me and Creative Me take failure better when it's accompanied by a cookie.
